8:00 you will have leisure time before we pick you up from your hotel go to pier to take a Dragon Boat cruising upstream along picturesque Perfume river. First visit is Thien Mu pagoda - the first pagoda built in 1601 by founding lord Nguyen Hoang of Dang Trong (Southern Realm). Here at Thien Mu pagoda you can see the tranquil settings surrounded by beautiful mountains and rivers. A car of monk Thich Quang Duc protesting against the buddhism repression by South Vietnam government in 1963 is on display right behind the main temple of the pagoda. We continue to the Imperial City - the residence of royal Nguyen family to visit the most notable buildings inside the Imperial city: Noon Gate, Phoenix Pavilion, Harmony Palace, Forbidden Purple City, Mandarin Palace, Reading Palace, Royal Theater, .Queen Mother Palace, ... The imperial city was almost completely destroyed in 1947 during French war and 1968 Tet offensive during Vietnam war. Have a stroll amongst the ruins to learn about the devastation of the war.
Drive all the way to Dong Ha city for lunch break. You will pass by the Street Without Joy or Highway of Horror, part of the Highway 1 South of Quang Tri town famed for its 1972 evacuation of civilians from the war-torn area during the Easter Offensive.

You'll have time to see air ventilation holes, bomb shelters, traffic trenches, museums, entrances, bomb cases and craters. The bomb craters is not only from air bombing but also from Navy ship offshore and artillery bombardments from the other side of the DMZ in South Vietnam.
