9:30 arrive at Dong Ha, meet and greet with local guide. Head West along Highway 9 - a strategic highway from Vietnam to Laos during Vietnam war - to visit Highway 9 National Cemetery where more than 10.000 NVA soldiers rest in peace labeled as ‘unknown soldier’. Next stop are the Rockpile - the American observation post for Communist infiltration and Dakrong bridge - a starting point of Ho Chi Minh trail from the DMZ crossing Highway 9 to the South to transport foods, weapons, ammos for the Vietcong . Last stop in the morning is Khe Sanh Combat Base – US Marine base holds the longest single battle of Vietnam war (77 days). Khe Sanh is compared to another 'Dien Bien Phu' for American.
Note: Camp Carroll (a Marine artillery base) is a bonus stop if you want to have a stop at. For a stop at Lang Vei special force camp, please tell us in advance in your email or call prior to the tour date.
12:00 go back to Dong Ha for lunch. On the way stop at a local Bru ethnic people village to see a local market selling products (avocado, bamboo shoot, ging sen, dragon-eye fruit, pineapple, ...)
13:00 Lunch time at local restaurant in Dong Ha city

13:30 Head North to Freedom bridge crossing Ben Hai river, the former border between North and South at 17th Parallel. Take a look at National Unification Memorial, the UN building and museum. After that, heading northeast toward the ocean to visit Vinh Moc tunnel – the underground village showing harsh living condition during the war and a real testament for Vietnamese determination of fighting.
16:00 go back to your hotel in Hue. On the way back to Hue, you will pass by Long Hung church - a last standing from the 1972 Easter offensive on Highway 1 in Quang Tri town called the Street Without Joy because of so many casualties of the civilians fleeing the battle sites from Quang Tri to Hue.
