Hoi An to Ha Long private transfer with sightseeing
Hoi An to Ha Long private transfer with sightseeing is the best way to travel from the central city of Hoi An to the northern city of Ha Long. Please see some example tour photos here.
Day 1: Hoi An – Dong Hoi
7:30 in the morning, we’ll pick you up from your hotel in Hoi An (Volar De Faifo, Little Hoi An Boutique, Little Riverside Hoi An, Almanity Hoi An Wellness Resort, …) going to Hue imperial city. On the way, we can have a stop at Dragon Bridge in Da Nang city for some panoramic views of the City of the Bridges. Nearby attractions are Da Nang skyline, Carp-Dragon Statue, Bridge of Love, Han River. We’ll keep going North towards the beautiful fabled mountain pass of Hai Van featured in BBC program’s Top Gear. Top of Hai Van pass used to be a military observation post used during the Vietnam war and many years before. We’ll have a coffee break at Lap An lagoon before heading to the Imperial city of Hue for you to take a rest and admire the scenic landscape of blue sky, green mountains, white clouds riddled with floating seafood restaurants and oyster farms. Upon arriving Hue city, you’ll have a walking tour of the citadel and imperial city (if it’s too hot and humid like in June, July, August, we can use the electric shuttle bus with pre-booking). Walking past the Flagpole, Noon Gate, Emperors’ Temple, Queen Mother’s Residence, Royal Theater, and many ruin sites of the 1947, 1968 battles during the French and American wars, you’ll understand more about the price that the Vietnamese have to pay to fulfill Ho Chi Minh’s quote “nothing is more precious than independence and freedom”. Lunch at nearby restaurant with local delights.
After lunch, we’ll continue onto the Freedom bridge crossing the Ben Hai river from South Vietnam into North Vietnam right in the middle of the old DMZ during the Vietnam war. Have a stroll across the old bridge used to divide the 2 Vietnams for 20 years to have a glimpse of the tragic endured by the country. Keep going next to the Vinh Moc tunnel – an underground village built to evade American bombing during the operation Rolling Thunder. The 25-meter depth of the tunnel reflects the indomitable will of the Vietnamese who are willing to sacrifice everything for the their independence. In the area north of the DMZ, there were more than 100 tunnels used by military and civilians used to live, fight, give supply for the NLF in the South. Drive all the way to Dong Hoi city. Overnight in Dong Hoi.

Day 2: Dong Hoi – Vinh
In the morning, we’ll take you to Phong Nha – Ke Bang national park – the adventure capital of Asia which is famous for its more than 400 caves with different sizes, lengths, features and their own beauties. You’ll have to choose 1 out of 2 caves here to visit, Phong Nha cave or Paradise cave. Phong Nha cave is well-known for its unique 7-km underground river plus many beautiful chambers, grottos formed million years ago.
If you choose Phong Nha cave, you’ll have a chance to a sit-back on boat ride enjoying the natural beauty of the UNESCO World Heritage site with beautiful Son river, buffalos gazing in the distant, evergreen corn fam on the riverbanks, catholic church and tombs hidden from afar. Once entering the cave, there are many spectacular shapes of the stalactites and stalagmites that you can notice Lion, Buddha, Royal Court, Fairy Beach, … and many many other shapes indicating many images depending on your imagination. Because the Phong Nha cave is so famous, its name is used for the National Park and also for the nearby town.
If you choose Paradise cave, you’ll have a different but still good experience of walking/hiking/riding electric buggies under the triple canopy of tropical jungle of Vietnam. Paradise cave boasts for its breathtaking scale, staggering limestone formation of alien-looking stalactites and stalagmites. Thought we’ll only visit 1km out of its 31km length, we still can see why it’s named Paradise cave by the British Cave Explorers in 2005 when a local man discovered this cave. Paradise was just opened for tourist since 2010.
Lunch time at a nearby restaurant before heading along Ho Chi Minh trail towards Vinh city. En route stop at Dong Loc legendary intersection at the beginning of the Ho Chi Minh trail which was bombed extensively by American forces during the Vietnam war. Dong Loc intersection is now mainly remembered for the memorial to 10 young unmarried girls aged 17–22 who were youth volunteers helping with logistics at the intersection and they all sacrificed their lives for the fatherland on 24 July 1968. Drive all the way to Vinh city – hometown of Ho Chi Minh. Overnight in Vinh city.
